It’s the most wonderful time of the year, which means it’s time to bring out the most wonderful social media strategy of the year! Your social media content is a great way to get yourself and your followers into the holiday spirit. However, it can often be difficult to determine what content will make your audience cheer, and what will make them cringe. No need to get your stockings in a twist – here are our tips for creating an effective holiday social media campaign!

1. Don’t be afraid to add some color!

Red and green are two colors often associated with the holiday season. Take advantage of that! Add a pop of red or green into your social media content. Whether you post photos of evergreen trees, candy canes, gingerbread houses, or poinsettias, don’t shy away from getting festive. Everything in moderation, of course, but put some spirit into your content!

2. Celebrate the little ho-ho-holidays in between the big ones.

Practically every day on the calendar has been named a national holiday of some kind. Luckily, between Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas, there are plenty of smaller holidays to be aware of. For example, December 12 is Gingerbread House Day as well as Poinsettia Day, December 16 is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day, and December 18 is Bake Cookies Day. This is by no means an exhaustive list; there are so many lesser known holidays throughout December, so try to incorporate one or two into your social media campaign!

3. Create a festive hashtag for your business.

Whether it’s a festive pun or just holiday themed, a unique hashtag can be a great way to engage your social media audience. If your hashtag is attention-grabbing, it can be an integral part of your social media campaign. In fact, if your audience loves the hashtag, they may even use it on their own posts. Who ever complained about some free publicity?

4. Spread the holiday cheer and some friendly competition – host a giveaway!

‘Tis the season of gift-giving, after all – show some love to your audience! While you don’t necessarily have to give anything away for free (though it’s certainly an option), a special holiday promotion is an excellent way to draw in new clients and rekindle relationships with previous ones. A percentage off of services, a drawing for a prize, or a free gift along with a purchase is a super effective way to get the attention of your social media followers.

5. Make sure to use every platform in your social media campaign.

This means Instagram, Stories, Facebook, LinkedIn, and so many more! As with any social media campaign, you want to expand your reach as much as possible. By utilizing all the platforms your business or brand has a presence on, you’re able to target more people than by just using one. Spread the love of the holidays to everybody! Post some fun holiday content of every kind – videos, photos, blog posts, heartwarming stories, polls…the list goes on and on. Let your creativity run wild.

No matter what holiday you’re celebrating this season, don’t be afraid to incorporate it into your social media campaign. Get festive! Your audience will love it.
