Email marketing can be a very effective way to reach your audience – that is, if you do it correctly. It can be difficult to figure out exactly how to put together an email campaign that works for your business. But fear not, difficult does not mean impossible! There are a few key ways to make your email campaign bring in more clients for your business. Here are our 6 tips for creating a kick-butt email campaign!

1. Keep it brief.

Let’s keep it real: when was the last time you read a full email from a company? That is, if you opened it at all. (We’ll get to that later.) One of the most important things to do in an email campaign is to only include the essential information. Try to avoid long paragraphs; people tend to skim through emails, which means they’re likely to miss what you’re trying to say. In fact, bullet points may be all you need to get your message across. Make your emails short and sweet!

2. Make it personal.

The digitization of marketing has been a wonderful thing in terms of accessibility and reach, but it has also taken a bit of the personal touch away. One of the easiest ways to make your email campaign personal is to add the recipient’s first name in the email greeting. If you’re using Mailchimp for your email marketing, there are several helpful tutorials on how to do this! For other services, a quick Google search can walk you through the process. Even the simplest personal touch can make a world of difference to your audience.

3. Don’t over-complicate your email.

This goes hand in hand with keeping it brief: make your emails as simple as possible. There’s no need to have a bunch of distracting images, icons, or text colors throughout. Use those three elements sparingly! A little goes a long way. There is a lot of psychology behind color meanings, and those can be used in emails as well. However, too much of anything can make your emails look busy and take away from your message. Try to avoid making your email campaign too complicated!

4. Hook your audience with the subject line.

Remember when we mentioned the possibility of your emails going unopened? You can avoid that by having an attention-grabbing subject line. Emojis are a great way to catch the recipient’s eye; again, everything in moderation. Even a pun or a bit of alliteration can entice your reader to open your email and see what you have to say.

5. Have a call to action.

The whole point of your email campaign is to get people to get in touch with your business, so make sure they’re aware of what you want them to do! Whether you’re looking for people to drive for your company, buy a product, receive a newsletter, or attend an event, a call to action is what will persuade them to do so. Having a clear call to action is essential. Tell the people what you want!

6. Find what type of email campaign works best for you!

As with all types of marketing, there is no one-size-fits-all email campaign. Test out different layouts and different material, and see what type works best for you. It may take some time, but it’ll be worth it in the long run.
