When LinkedIn first launched their Events feature back in October of 2019, it was only available for select companies to take advantage of. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LinkedIn Events has been made available to all companies! Here is the full run-down of what we currently know about the LinkedIn Events feature.

What is LinkedIn Events?

LinkedIn Events is a feature on LinkedIn that is somewhat similar to Facebook’s event creator. According to the platform’s marketing solutions blog, it “is in a Beta phase, but we’ve opened it up to ensure that all Pages have a tool to drive awareness of their events.” Essentially, this feature makes it easy for you to create a page for an event you’re hosting and invite other users to take part.

While the world is mostly in quarantine, this is a great option to advertise any virtual networking or professional events, webinars, or even events happening in the future when we’re all (hopefully) back to normal.

How do you access this feature?

If you’re on your computer, go to the homepage of LinkedIn and look at the left sidebar. You should see a listing that says “Events” with a plus sign next to it. When you click on the plus sign, you’re taken to a form that asks you for information regarding your event.

If you’re on your iOS or Android device, go to the LinkedIn app and tap your profile picture in the top left corner. You should then see a spot underneath “Groups” that says “Events” and has a plus sign next to it. When you tap the plus sign, you’ll be taken to a form that asks you for information about your event.

On whichever device you’re using, once you’ve filled out the form, your event will have been created! From there, you can share your event (and encourage your friends and colleagues to do the same) and invite people to attend.

LinkedIn has also provided an Activation Playbook detailing the ways you can use LinkedIn Live and LinkedIn Events to stay connected. They also offer tips and tricks to making the most out of their platforms – totally worth checking out!

How can LinkedIn Events be beneficial for your business?

During this time of crisis, this feature can be extremely beneficial to your business if you’re planning any virtual events or webinars. (If you aren’t already planning one, perhaps you should consider it!) However, even when we aren’t in the middle of a pandemic, this event creator can be a great asset to your business. For business-related events, Facebook isn’t always going to be your best bet. Because LinkedIn is chock-full of business professionals, it’s a great platform to utilize when you’re planning professional events.

If you’re looking to explore new features, LinkedIn Events is a great place to start. Sometimes, it can be difficult to figure out the best way to market your business.
