Along with the rise of technology over the past several years, there has been an upswing in platforms advertised to help you build a website for yourself or your business. It seems as though there is always a new website building tool on the market! With so many options, it can be tough to make a decision about what really works best for you. So, what is the best website building tool on the market right now? We’ve done the research so you don’t have to.

Wix Website Building Tool

Wix is a free website building tool that offers many templates to be used for simple website creation. Within the platform, both free and paid domain names and web hosting are included when creating a website. When it comes to utilizing their service, it can be free as long as you want it to be. However, for more complex functionality, there are premium price packages.

On the bright side, Wix has a ton of templates to choose from. On the other hand, though, there is not a lot of room for customization on Wix. The websites are relatively cookie-cutter, so they’d mainly be good for a simple first website or a website you aren’t expecting to do very much. Overall, Wix is a great website building tool for beginners, but professionals may find more success elsewhere.

Weebly

Similar to Wix, Weebly is a website building platform with a plethora of templates to be used to create basic websites. Within this platform, you can have a free custom domain for up to a year until you are asked to purchase one of the premium website options. Again, similar to Wix, there are not a ton of options for customization of your Weebly website; aside from changing your domain and adding a more complicated template, there are fairly limited options available through Weebly.

Weebly is probably not the service you want to rely on for a super professional business website. If you are just starting out and looking for an entry-level site to serve basic functions, look into it! However, for more established companies, look elsewhere. This is a foundation-level service that, while valuable, would be better for newer, younger companies.

Squarespace

Squarespace is towards the more professional end of the website building tool spectrum for sure. Using Squarespace, your website is composed of different blocks, which work together to form each page. This is great for having more complex designs and more functionality on your site. Additionally, Squarespace supports the creation of ecommerce platforms, so creating an online shop is a breeze.

Squarespace would be a great platform for a business to look into using. With so many tools and widgets to add, it becomes easy to have a professional site for your company. There are many different pricing plans, all of which can enhance your website building experience and achieve the ultimate functionality for your website.

WordPress

Before we get into our review, it’s important to make the distinction between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Though they share the same logo and name, the two are actually quite different.

If you’re looking for a more low-commitment website, consider looking into WordPress.com. It is more similar to Squarespace, Weebly, and Wix in that it is largely based off of templates. However, you are able to customize your WordPress.com site a little bit more than Weebly or Wix.

On the other hand, WordPress.org is the best option for the highest quality professional websites. With an abundance of plugins and ways to customize the sites, you can have a totally stunning and unconventional website with a little bit of effort. This is definitely the best option for an excellent website.
