We’ve talked about social media budgets and using analytics for ad targeting before, but Facebook has made it easier than ever. By creating the Facebook Pixel, Facebook has allowed you access to more insights into the traction your website is getting. Before 2017, there were two different types of pixels; however, they have since been consolidated into one updated code. Here is everything you need to know about the Facebook Pixel.
What is the Facebook Pixel?
Essentially, the Facebook Pixel is coding that you put into your website to track the traffic coming from your Facebook ads. It also provides information on ad optimization, and continually reaches out to people who have previously engaged with your website. The Pixel puts cookies into your website which see how users interact with both your website and your ads.
How can the Pixel be helpful?
Because the Facebook Pixel tracks the actions your audience takes on your website, the information it gives you can help you create better ads for your business. The Pixel will also help you direct people towards engaging with your content in the way you desire. For example, if the goal is to sign people up for your newsletter, it will help create ads which influence the audience to sign up.
How does the Facebook Pixel get your audience to take action?
The Pixel itself has 17 preprogrammed “events,” or specific actions, that you can add into the coding for future ads. These events include, but are not limited to: purchases, leads, adding items to a wishlist, contacting your business, starting a try, submitting an application, and subscribing to a service. When you’re programming your Pixel, you’re able to add one of these events to improve the ads you’re putting out. Additionally, you are able to create custom events on top of the pre-existing ones. That way, you’re more likely to get the results you want.
